aBIZ Adopts QBOnline
aBIZ Adopts QBOnline is not going to be the most exciting article I write this year, but it certainly qualifies as one of the most important for many reasons that will be touched on. We move a substantial number of our clients on to the Xero platform in 2015 with the expectation that we would receive a level of support for our practice. We were quite pleased for a period of time. However, everything changed in November 2017. We are not going to perform a necropsy on the situation, suffice it to say that this wasn’t something undertook without careful consideration. Thankfully, a substantial portion of our larger clients we already on the QBOnline [“QBO”] platform.
Despite all of the fancy issues we discuss, at the end of the day, we are a firm of certified public accountants [“CPA’s”] and that means we deal in debits, credits and journal entries…period. We understand that means that a certain point, we roll up our sleeves and do what accountants do. We understand that means that we need to be able to understand what our clients are attempting to do on their accounting software platform…and means being completely current and up to date with the platform and being able to bring resources in where our clients have issues.
The mastery of an accounting software platform starts with going through the vendor’s training and help materials to become familiar with the product. We have been using QBO since it came to market in and before that the QB Desktop product that came into being in 1983 which was not long after the IBM 386 PC’s hit the market. However, being “familiar with the software is nowhere near sufficient to properly support clients. Anyone that knows me will certainly give me shit for posting QBO certifications as I constantly remind so people that it is essentially a confirmation of bookkeeping skills that any 10th grader should be able to master without a tremendous amount of effort.
Well, I stand by what I have always said, however, sometimes you need to prove that you can do what you say you can. As of this evening, five of our people completed both certifications and our practice has achieved Elite Status with Intuit, which is the highest level of performance recognized in the QB Pro Advisor program.
We are going to keep this short…more to come – cannabis industry-centric.
