DopeCFO.com Program – RIPOFF
DopeCFO.com Program – RIPOFF – it has been a very long time since we have taken the time and effort to be critical or another practitioner or practice…literally we have to think back to days of Cletus Smelly, EA [for those of you that don’t remember that…you can visit the “special” website for it at smellystinkyea.com
Let’s get right to it and highlight our problems with the DopeCFO program:
It shouldn’t surprise anyone that our view of anyone that “self-designated” themselves
or anyone they train as experts has a serious problem with self-aggrandizement, and happens to be in violation of both AICPA Professional Standards and Circular 230 [See Sec.,10.51(6), Self-Aggrandizement – Cannabis Industry Professionals and How Not to Become an Expert.
We looked over the content of the DopeCFO course, the lovely package documents which they assert have a value of roughly $22K, which they are offering to share with individuals without regard to their professional background and education for the “bargain” price of $4997. The thing to use is that we have given away for exactly FREE everything that contained in their offering for the exorbitant price of FREE. If anyone doesn’t believe me, here is the link to our website
A more focused resource, here is the link to the set of seven detailed whitepapers which we wrote, that are at least an order of magnitude more sophisticated than what the DopeCFO is offering.
Let’s be clear, undertaking tax and accounting work for a cannabis business is complex, and only a fool would touch it without substantial experience and proper background. Let’s dig a bit deeper and see what we find.
A quick look tells us that Doug Hunzicker has a BS in Finance and no listed public accounting experience whatsoever.
His Partner, Naomi Granger has a BS in Accounting and an MBA from Florida A&M and worked in public accounting for two Big 4 firms for a total of approximately 3 years at the staff and senior accountant level.
By contrast, I have a BS in Accountancy from the UIUC, and an MS in Taxation from UT-Austin was a Tax Partner with Arthur Andersen LLP, and have been in professional practice in public accounting for 38 years.
We need to be very clear…WE ARE NOT SELLING A COMPETITIVE PRODUCT…rather we are giving it away. We are currently mentoring over a dozen CPA’s in California, Iowa, and New York…most all of them at the partner level to give them the skills to manage a cannabis practice in small to midsized CPA firm…something neither of the principals at the DOPECFO.com has the qualifications to do. Perhaps their course has some value for bookkeepers….its certainly WAY underpowered for professional accountants [e.g. CPA’s in professional practice.
